I recently realized my bookshelf was a collection of high school prom photos, sweet sixteen memorabilia, and my JV sports letters. You know, the smaller version of the varsity letter…Anyways, it gave me the idea to completely redecorate my shelves. For this project, I simply used things I already had along with new additions from Home Goods, Etsy, and Made by Girl.
Photo 2: My Made by Girl script love print is the perfect top shelf accessory. I got the print online (took me forever to decide what print to get - all of her work is amazing) and bought the mirrored frame at Home Goods. I stacked a few decorative books I had with some personal favorites including Tina Fey's Bossypants, Humans of New York, and The Gospel According to CoCo Chanel. I also added my Chanel sunglass box to the top of the stack for a decorative touch. The silver vase and white bird are both Home Goods finds. I put a fake flickering candle in the vase which looks beautiful at night.
Photo 4: On my second shelf, I combined a few new coffee table books as well as a new Home Good's vase and candle with silk flowers and an old PB Teen mannequin necklace holder. My mom and I found this cute small crystal lamp years ago and added extra trim from my bedroom to its simple white shade. The coffee table books (all discounted from Amazon) include Vogue: The Covers, Harper's Bazaar Greatest Hits, and (my mom's old book) Life in Photographs.
Photo 6: The big gold box (another Home Goods find!) absolutely makes this shelf. The box paired with a collection of the classics covered in pink book covers makes the perfect match. Recovering any collection of books to match the color of your room is always a great way to fill space on a shelf. These books are from a sale on One King's Lane. The gold frame and little pink chair (an old potpourri I've had forever) are a great way to break up the different heights.
Photo 7: This is probably my favorite shelf because of the amazing Florence map. I bought this map on Etsy (only $20!) and framed it myself. The vendor allows you to pick any city and any color you want. The color possibilities are endless and you can also order the map in any size. I highly recommend checking out their Etsy page - these maps make awesome gifts!
Photo 9: This pink and white dress is another old potpourri I've had in my room forever. I never knew what to do with it, but it looks pretty great on the shelf paired with the large silver sphere from Home Goods.
Cheers!
